Fully Resting in God

When do you take time to rest? Like really rest! I'm not talking about just sleeping and binge watching youtube with a bowl of ice-cream in hand, but resting in our Heavenly Father. Taking moments to seek God, asking him for guidance and wisdom, and praising him.

Isiah 26:3-4

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the LORD always, for the LORD God is the eternal rock.

Life always seems to be HECTIC. So often I have 2 or 3 to-do list between chores, school, goals and meeting friends. I realized how I was always so busy and yearning to be in control and have everything accomplished by the end of the day off my lists. I had so much to accomplish I wasn't making time to seek God and worship him. At the end of the day though, I have come to realize, it's okay that I didn't accomplish every thing I wanted. I have to give control to God knowing that he will set everything into place perfectly. He will help me conquer more than I ever can on my own.

Matthew 6:33

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Psalm 3:5

I lie down and sleep, I wake again, because the LORD sustains me!

Just like he says in his word, we have to find our rest in our God before we aspire to do anything else! He is ultimately the most important part of our day. He's got everything in control so we have nothing to fear. I'm not saying you should never have to-do list. List are great. But there has to be a healthy balance of being organized and productive(with God's help) and not letting your task consume you; distracting you from God.

Recently I realized I was striving for different things that would normally be a God given desire. For example, ever since I moved to California I have been looking for a job. I thought that was God's plan for me and I thought I deserved it. I had past work experience so I figured it wouldn't be that difficult to get a job. But, sometimes God takes us on a different trail.  Sometimes he has a lesson he wants us to learn. He takes us on a route that turns out different than we ever thought. But it is more beautiful than we ever could have imagined. That's what happened to me. God took me on a different path andtaught me what it means to really rest in him and how vital it is. He also taught me patience along with other lessons. I've had the opportunity to build relationships, and get settled in here in California. There have been hard times but there also has been a lot of beauty.

Repose. I love this word. It reminds me to rethink life and what I prioritize. Examine your life and see if your putting your time into useless areas. Today is the day to lift up Jesus and repose in him. Fix your eyes on what is eternal. Pray and ask God for wisdom.

2 Corinthians 4:18

So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannon be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever

Challenge :

Spend the first hour of your day seeking God, reposing, prepare yourself for the day and all that may come with it.

Meditate on these scriptures:

Psalm 91:1-   Psalm 127:2-  Jeremiah 6:16-  Matthew 11:28-30

Have a beautiful day,
