“A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” -Ecclesiastes 4:12(NLT

What does a godly relationship with others look like?  A triangle!  Yes, you did read that correctly.  Hang with me for just a second and let me explain.  Consider a relationship you have with a fellow Christian, whether it be a friend, co-worker, or family member.  Now picture what a triangle looks like and imagine that God is at the top point, and both you and your friend are at either side point.  With that image still in your mind, picture both of you guys moving toward Christ at the top; the closer you get to God, the closer you get to each other.

This is how any relationship that is founded on Christ looks like.  When two people become closer to God, their relationship automatically becomes closer.  Both individuals are pursuing Christ, becoming more like Him and exemplifying His love, grace, and patience, all of which are essential in strengthening a relationship.

When we have relationships that are founded on Him, they cannot be as easily broken as those that are founded on other things.  The pettiness, jealousy, miscommunication, and other issues that tend to break relationships apart do not have power when the Spirit of the Lord is present.  We must be intentional about having these friendships and making Him the center of them.  And when we do make Him the center, our relationships will be stronger than ever before.

Are you being intentional with your relationships?  Do your relationships reflect God’s characteristics, displaying patience, love, and grace?  Is God at the center of your relationships?

Take a moment to evaluate your relationships with others, deciding which ones are strong and others that you could be more intentional about.  Try to center those relationships around Christ.  This could be through a Bible study, praying for each other, or even just asking if the Lord has revealed anything to them lately.

Dear Lord, I pray that you would be the center of my life and the center of my relationships.  Let me display your qualities, loving them with a love that only you can provide.  Please give me relationships with people who love you Lord!  Let us grow together in our faith and in our friendship.
